Photography Exhibit

Temporary exhibit on display through June 29th! Come check out these photos.

The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center will be celebrating your public lands with a photography exhibit featuring the Bureau of Land Management Photo Contest winners.  These award winning images reveal the stunning landscapes, the diversity of fauna/flora, and the work of those individuals dedicated to helping protect your public lands.  Through the camera lens, twenty-five photographs have captured the land we love and will be on display for public viewing.

The film “Public Lands Heritage: The Ferris Mountains” will also be available for public viewing in the exhibit area.  Directed by National Historic Trails Interpretive Center staff member Reid Miller, the twenty-seven minute film’s exploration of the Wilderness Study Area (WSA) located in Ferris Mountains took four years to complete.

The exhibit will be available for viewing starting June 1, 2019 through June 29, 2019 during normal business hours at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center.  In the summer, hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and no admission is charged for entrance to the Trail Center or exhibit.   https://www.flickr.com/photos/134389515@N06/albums/72157672917335198

New Scrim in the Mormon Handcart Cold Room Theater
The scrim in the Cold Room theater of the Mormon Handcart Gallery was vandalized and in need of repair. The Foundation ordered new material, and Carol Thorup volunteered to sew the hems and pockets to make this piece ready for installation. Installation is COMPLETE! It looks wonderful! Maintenance is an important part of keeping world class exhibits ready for our visitors! Many THANKS to Jared Fleming who maintains this facility and Lance & Carol Thorup who generously donate their time!
Volunteer Luncheon was a HUGE success!
We celebrated the many fine folks who volunteer their time here at the Trails Center on Saturday, October 13 as the snow rolled into town. A feast from HQ BBQ and cake made with love by Jean Smart at Ridley's bakery filled our bellies, and Jason Vlcan presented a magnificent slideshow highlighting the wonderful adventures our volunteers enjoyed this past year! Come volunteer with us! We promise fun and crazy weather at the very least!
